Many cell phones now carry warnings that reflect a serious danger. Like WiFi, cell phones emit pulsed microwave radiation. The manual for the Motorola phone model 120e states, “the available science does not allow us to conclude that mobile phones are absolutely safe." (p152)
The manual states that animal studies “have suggested that low levels of RF could accelerate the development of cancer in laboratory animals. In one study, mice genetically altered to be predisposed to developing one type of cancer developed more than twice as many cancers when they were exposed to RF energy compared to controls." (p153)
When tumours did exist, “they were more likely to be on the side of the head where the mobile phone was used." (p155) And that “an association was found between mobile phone use and one rare type of glioma, neuroepithellomatous tumors." (p154)
The following frank admission is key to understanding the dangers of wireless devices: "Under the law, FDA does not review the safety of radiation-emitting consumer products such as mobile phones before marketing, as it does with new drugs or medical devices." (p156) Neither does Health Canada review the safety, nor Industry Canada, nor the Provincial governments. Nobody does. Yet our children - our most vulnerable citizens - are being subjected to six hours a day of pulsed microwave radiation from a technology that is not safety tested. This is without parental consent. Even the manufacturers will not conclude it is SAFE.
The manual for the BlackBerry Torch warns users to “reduce the amount of time spent on calls.” (p23) At the same time manufacturers warn people to reduce microwave exposure, the School Boards are mandating each child is exposed for 6 hours daily. The BlackBerry manual also suggests a risk of damage to a fetus and female eggs: “Use hands-free if it is available and keep the BlackBerry device at least .98 in. from your body (including the abdomen of pregnant women and the lower abdomen of teenagers).” (p23) The School Boards are failing to protect pregnant teachers and the damage to female eggs of young students is incalculable.
The manufacturers never say microwave technology is safe. The provincial and federal governments are alone saying it is "SAFE." The governments are playing a word game. "Safe" just means it won't heat your skin in six minutes.
The chief spokesperon for cell-phone makers summed it up in March, 2010, in a speech to stop the passage of the Children's Wireless Protection Act in Maine.
"I want to be very clear. Industry has not said once -- not once -- that cell phones are safe. The federal government and various interagency working groups have said it is safe." Click to view speech
